Image Weaving

The woven image

intertwines differences

to invite fresh eyes.

About the artist:

"Laura is an Occupational Therapist, artist, gardener, mother, and designer, living in Seattle, WA. Curious about the connectivity of all things, Laura gets excited about figuring out the relationships between shapes, tensions and balance in the body and in the world. Graced with an innate sense of spatial dynamics and design, she has an affinity for puzzles and problem solving.  A practical optimist, she believes that as ‘works in progress’, there is always a way to find better balance and greater ease in our lives as we move toward wholeness.

Living in the duality of our world is a constant dance between opposites - up/down, past/present, left/right, inside/outside - opposites are everywhere.

Her woven images are an expression of combining opposites into a greater whole. To create these images she uses photographs she has taken to combine two opposite perspectives into a new coherent image. The haiku provides a written word perspective.  Moments of individual experience are expressed as a ‘sphere of being’ poised within the opposites. She sees our every day existence as a continuation of points between internal and external infinity, in which we have the freedom of choice - the choice to be our truth."
